Transcript Evaluation
At IADT - Chicago, we recognize that there are differences in the US and international educational systems and will take this into account when we evaluate your transcript(s).
We accept credits from institutions accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education including U.S. accredited international institutions. If you are submitting an English transcript from an accredited Title-IV-eligible institution located abroad, we will evaluate it the same way we evaluate transcripts submitted from accredited schools within the U.S.
We will compare your academic credentials to educational programs in the U.S. and place you at the educational level that suits your educational background. Your transcript will be evaluated considering the following criteria:
- Registration with the country's governing academic body
- Course or degree subject area
- Grading scale or criteria
- Unit of credit
- Course or degree descriptions
- Third-party analysis of country's degree comparability to U.S. degree.
IADT Chicago reserves the right to individually evaluate international credentials or to refer them to a credential evaluation service. Our first preference is to send students to Educational Perspectives http://www.educational-perspectives.org/application.htm. You can receive a discount for using this service by noting "CEC Discount" on your application before you submit it.
Any transcripts that we do not evaluate must be recognized by National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, NACES, for transfer credit regarding transcripts and degrees. If we doubt the academic credit award for an international transcript, we will refer you to an international credential evaluation service.
